Thinking of cruising the British Virgin Islands on a captained boat? Stop thinking and start planning. Taking a vacation on the Elixir is an experience you will not soon forget. Recently, my husband and I accompanied by four land-lover friends boarded the Elixir on St. Thomas for a week long adventure to island hop the British Virgin Islands. My husband and I are seasoned sailors, who have sailed these islands many times. Yet, each of us were excited, anticipating our adventures in this tropical paradise.

We visited some of the touristy places that everyone should see. Among these gems included, The Bathes on Virgin Gorda, Foxy’s on Jost Van Dyke, scuba diving at the Indians at Peter Island and swimming in to experience a “Pain Killer” at The Soggy Dollar. We island hopped to more places than I can count, experiencing new places to swim and explore. When the winds cooperated, the captainhoisted the sails and cut the engine. We all relished in the beauty of our surroundings, the breeze at our backs, the sun’s warmth on our bodies and the freedom of sailing on tropical blue waters. It didn’t take long before we were each able to release the stresses that accompany daily life. We rejuvenated ourselves. The crew are easy going, fun loving people that felt more like family than new friends at our journey’s end. I can’t say enough about their welcoming demeanor and willingness to make our vacation memorable.

Elixir is a comfortable 46 foot catamaran. This vessel is very roomy and accommodating. It’s spacious areas are designed to make even the new sailor experience a relaxing and stressless sailing experience. As for our group, we were planning our return before we even left Elixir. We have returned home feeling relaxed, tanned, and richer for the friendships we made.
